Tru Believer Or Just Dissatisfied Customer? Man Arrested for Setting "disgusting" Strip Club on Fire

A Wisconsin man, Colton Jansen, found himself in hot water this week after being apprehended and charged with arson for allegedly setting a local strip club ablaze. The 25-year-old was caught on surveillance footage using a propane torch to ignite a tissue box after breaking into Shooter's Showgirls in the Town of Elk Mound, as reported by the Dunn County Sheriff's Office.

Jansen's motive behind the destructive act was revealed when he confessed to authorities that he targeted the establishment because it conflicted with his personal beliefs. Describing such clubs as "disgusting," the accused arsonist expressed his disdain for them, as detailed in a criminal complaint obtained from various sources.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Jan. 18 when police, accompanied by eleven local fire departments, rushed to the scene following reports from motorists on Interstate 94. The structure was already engulfed in flames by the time emergency services arrived, resulting in the closure of the club, although no injuries were reported.

Security footage retrieved by investigators depicted Jansen attempting to break into an ATM, a pull tab dispenser, and a stuffed animal claw machine using a metal bar before setting the club on fire. The suspect was identified through his car, which was tracked from the scene to his residence in Comstock using license plate readers.

Initially denying any involvement and claiming his car had been stolen, Jansen's story quickly unraveled when confronted with incriminating evidence. Subsequently, he admitted to the arson, attributing his actions to his strong aversion towards strip clubs. The torch used in the crime and boots matching those worn by the suspect in the footage were seized by the authorities from his vehicle.

According to online court records, Jansen faces charges of arson, burglary, and possession of burglarious tools. His court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 28, where he will have to answer for his alleged crimes.
