Woman Teams Up with Stranger from Bus to Kill Boyfriend Who Doubted She Could Find a Job
A Colorado woman, Ashley White, 29, has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend, Cody DeLisa, 28. Prosecutors revealed that White orchestrated the murder with the help of a stranger she had just met on a bus, in response to DeLisa's mockery of her job-seeking endeavors.
The tragic incident unfolded in 2020, following a job interview White had in Denver. Upon returning home, White shared details of the interview with DeLisa, who reportedly expressed doubts about her ability to secure the job. This skepticism allegedly triggered White's anger, setting the stage for the heinous crime that followed.
During her bus journey back home, White encountered a stranger who identified himself as "Scott." In a disturbing exchange, Scott inquired about White's relationship status and whether her boyfriend had assaulted her. Shockingly, White disclosed that he had, prompting Scott to suggest they eliminate him.
Upon arriving at White's residence, Scott introduced himself to DeLisa as her brother from Texas. Shortly after, DeLisa was fatally shot twice in the head. His lifeless body was discovered the next day during a welfare check, sending shockwaves through the community.
Investigations into the case unveiled unsettling details about White's resentment towards DeLisa, evident in diary entries where she expressed her animosity towards him. Prior to the murder, White had also attempted to harm DeLisa's cat by drowning and burning it, painting a grim picture of her escalating hostility.
Following the murder, White and the stranger absconded with DeLisa's wallet, leaving a trail of devastation in their wake. The case took a dramatic turn three years later when a woman, identified as Michael Stratton's girlfriend, came forward, suspecting her boyfriend's involvement in DeLisa's murder.
Remarkably, the details provided by Stratton's girlfriend aligned with White's own account of the crime, shedding light on the sinister collaboration that led to DeLisa's untimely demise. Despite being in custody for a separate murder post-DeLisa's killing, Stratton has not been formally charged in connection with the case and has been deemed unfit to stand trial.
District Attorney Brian Mason condemned the senseless act of violence, attributing significant culpability to Ashley White for orchestrating the murder. Mason emphasized that White's callous actions directly resulted in the tragic loss of life and affirmed that she would face the consequences of her deeds.
The murder plot orchestrated by White bore eerie similarities to Alfred Hitchcock's 1951 film "Strangers on a Train," where two individuals conspire to exchange murders to avoid suspicion. However, in this real-life tragedy, the consequences were far more devastating, culminating in a conviction for White.
