It's no joke when a routine traffic stop unveils a startling secret stash of laughing gas. In a bizarre turn of events, a Houston dentist, Christopher Michael Pedlar, found himself in hot water after a police chase exposed his affinity for nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas.

The 39-year-old dentist's escapade began with a brief chase that culminated in a surprising discovery - over 100 canisters of the noxious gas hidden in his vehicle. Reports indicate that Pedlar not only had the canisters but also confessed to indulging in the gas while behind the wheel.

Houston Police Constable Alan Rosen expressed his concern, stating, "It's a very sad situation. The very product that they use - 107 canisters is substantial. He had been using it while they were driving around. He admitted it. He said he has a problem."

This isn't Pedlar's first encounter with the law regarding his alleged addiction. Records from the Harris County District Clerk reveal a prior charge of interfering with a public servant and possession of a volatile chemical in October. Despite being out on bond and ordered to seek treatment, Pedlar's latest escapade raises serious questions about his ongoing struggle.

During the recent incident, Pedlar was apprehended for eluding police and possession of volatile chemicals after he was caught speeding along West 19th Street in Houston. Initially refusing to stop for authorities, he eventually pulled over and confessed to both the canisters and his dangerous habit.

Following his arrest, Pedlar was arraigned and subsequently released on a $10,000 bond. The Texas State Board of Dental Examiners refrained from commenting on ongoing investigations or complaints related to the dentist.
