Minnesota Timberwolves' rising star, Anthony Edwards, has stirred up a storm by requesting DNA testing from influencer Ayesha Howard right after she welcomed a baby girl.
Recent documents obtained by Us Weekly reveal that the 23-year-old Edwards filed a fresh motion concerning a paternity lawsuit he initiated against Howard back in September. The news of this motion was first reported by In Touch.
In the legal paperwork filed on October 15, the day following Howard's delivery, Edwards sought DNA testing from a "neutral and licensed laboratory" to ascertain his paternity status.
Despite attempts to reach out to Edwards' legal representative and Howard for comments, Us Weekly has not received any responses at the time of reporting.
Edwards, who just commenced his fourth NBA season after clinching a gold medal with Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics, had previously lodged a paternity suit with the state of Georgia in September. Notably, Howard has not been served with the paternity papers yet.
As per the documents obtained by Us Weekly, Edwards had requested genetic testing on the unborn child. In the event of confirmation of paternity, he sought an order to establish the baby's paternity and child support.
The legal papers also indicated that Edwards was not aware of any other individual with custody or visitation rights concerning the child.
Edwards and his girlfriend, Shannon Jackson, joyfully welcomed their first daughter, Aislynn, in March 2024. Additionally, rumors suggest that Edwards might be the father of two other children with different women, both born in 2023.
On the other hand, Howard, who shares a son named Jason, aged 9, with rapper Lil Baby, announced the birth of her newborn daughter via Instagram on Tuesday, October 22.
"Golden girls β¨πΆπ½ 10/14," Howard captioned the post, hinting at the baby's birthdate.
She shared an image of the infant on Instagram Stories, concealing the baby's face with a large purple heart. "Momma doll baby πΆπ½," she affectionately captioned the photo.
In a subsequent Story post, Howard briefly touched on the challenging birth experience, stating, "It was painful but I did it and within 15 mins πΆπ½ my girls was 8 lbs π can't wait to tell you all about it."
Howard has chosen not to disclose any details regarding the baby's father. However, in response to her birth announcement, friends and followers flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages.
"Clock That Tea honey!!!! I knew you were off the scene for a reason. Congratulations sis π₯³," one individual commented. Another wrote, "Awww & you said you wanted a Girl congrats πππ."
