Jake Paul Hospitalized with Double Jaw Fracture Following Knockout Loss
Jake Paul is recovering in a hospital bed after sustaining a double jaw fracture during his recent boxing match against Anthony Joshua.
The fight, held at Kaseya Center in Miami on December 19, marked a significant moment in Paul's career as he faced his first knockout loss. The injury occurred when Joshua delivered a powerful right hook, resulting in fractures in two locations of Paul's jaw.
Despite his injuries, the 28-year-old continues to engage with fans on social media. In an Instagram video, Paul is seen lying in a hospital bed, flanked by his brother Logan. “Broken jaw guys thanks for all the support I’m ok,” he captioned the post, accompanied by a thumbs-up emoji.
Paul also shared an X-ray image revealing the extent of his injuries, confirming the double fracture. He expressed eagerness for a potential fight with Canelo Alvarez, stating, “Give me Canelo in 10 days.”
Earlier this year, Paul had announced plans for a bout with Alvarez, but those plans fell through. Following the match, he posted a close-up video from the ring, showcasing his injury and maintaining a light-hearted demeanor. “It’s fine, right?” he quipped.
In another post, Paul humorously displayed a photo of his bloodied tongue alongside a screenshot of the moment Joshua's punch landed. “Lol xD,” he captioned it.
This loss marks only the second defeat in Paul's boxing career. Despite the setback, he remained upbeat, stating, “I feel good. That was fun. I love this sport. I got my ass beat, but that’s what this sport is about.”
Paul reflected on his journey in boxing, saying, “Man, I’ve already won in every single way in life. This sport has helped me in every single way … I think my jaw is broken, by the way.”
Joshua, who stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 252 pounds, praised Paul’s efforts in the ring. “Jake Paul did really well and he deserves his props,” he remarked. “It takes a real man to do that and he deserves respect for trying and trying and trying.”
The match lasted six rounds before Joshua's decisive blow sent Paul to the canvas. Just prior to the knockout, Paul attempted to taunt Joshua by sticking out his tongue—a move that ultimately backfired.
