Jennifer Lawrence Shares Message to Emma Stone Following Award Season Snub: 'She's Been Beating Me for Decades'

In a candid moment, Jennifer Lawrence opened up about her playful banter with Emma Stone during a recent conversation.

“She got nominated for SAG today and I did not,” Lawrence, 35, remarked during a January 7 discussion with Josh Horowitz at New York’s 92NY Kaufmann Concert Hall, where she was promoting her film *Die My Love*.

Lawrence recounted the group chat with friends, saying, “All of our friends were like, ‘Congratulations, Emma.’” She added, “And then I would just do, like, a sad face.”

Stone, 37, received a nomination for her role in *Bugonia* at the 32nd annual SAG-AFTRA Actor Awards. In contrast, while Lawrence garnered nominations for her performance in *Die My Love* at the Golden Globes and Gotham Awards, she was overlooked by the Actor Awards.

“And then every time she’s tried to, like, talk today, I’ve just been like … ‘If you can talk, why are you not so sorry?’” Lawrence joked about Stone during her onstage appearance. “But yeah, no, she’s been beating me for decades, and it’s an honor.”

The two actresses have shared many memorable moments together, both at industry events and in casual settings. Lawrence humorously recalled presenting Stone with her second Oscar in 2024 for *Poor Things* and mentioned their competitive history regarding roles.

“The one that I wanted that she got was *Easy A*,” Lawrence laughed. “I was nuts for *Easy A* — and really should have gotten it, right? … It would have been great.”

In addition to their friendly rivalry, the duo is collaborating on a project featuring Miss Piggy. Lawrence joked about the involvement of directors like Martin Scorsese or Paul Thomas Anderson and teased that it would be R-rated. “No, it's a family movie,” she clarified, aimed at “gays and women.”

Looking ahead, Lawrence is also set to star and produce in *The Wives*, a murder mystery inspired by the Real Housewives franchise.
