Joshua Jackson Reunites with 'Mighty Ducks' Co-Star at NHL Draft

Joshua Jackson stepped back into the world of hockey nostalgia, reuniting with Marguerite Moreau, his co-star from the beloved 'Mighty Ducks' franchise, at the 2025 NHL Draft on June 27. The duo took to the stage to announce the Anaheim Ducks’ first-round selections, a moment that brought back memories of their iconic roles.

Wearing an orange Ducks jersey emblazoned with “Conway” — a tribute to his character Charlie Conway — Jackson embraced the spirit of the event. The Anaheim Ducks selected center Roger McQueen as their first draft pick, marking him as the 10th overall choice of the night.

“It’s been a while since I wore 96, so it’s nice to have it back on,” Jackson remarked during an appearance on NHL Tonight, reflecting on the significance of the moment.

Looking back on their time filming the original 'Mighty Ducks' movies, Jackson expressed surprise at how far they’ve come. “I don’t think any of us knew what we were doing and couldn’t possibly have dreamed this would be a possibility all these years later,” he said, reminiscing about the camaraderie shared during the making of the films.

The franchise, which began with the 1992 film and continued with sequels in 1994 and 1996, also featured Emilio Estevez as Coach Gordon Bombay, a character who finds redemption through coaching a youth hockey team.

In a recent interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Jackson recounted a valuable lesson he learned from Estevez while filming. Reflecting on his behavior as a young actor, he admitted to being “a little d***” at times. “I kind of learned how to be on set from Emilio because I didn’t know any of this stuff,” he explained.

Jackson recalled a specific incident during filming for 'D2: The Mighty Ducks,' where they played in front of a packed arena. “One day we had 20,000 people. Literally, they filled the arena for us to play hockey,” he said, highlighting the excitement of that experience.

However, amidst the thrill, he made a misstep. “When I was coming off, I just blew past a bunch of people waiting for autographs to go to the locker room,” he admitted. Estevez quickly intervened, telling him, “Don’t ever do that again.”

Estevez’s words resonated deeply: “Why do you think you get to go out there and skate in front of all these people?” Jackson recalled. Estevez emphasized the importance of remembering who they were there for. “Do not ever forget who it is that you’re here for,” Jackson said, noting how impactful that moment was for his teenage self.

This reunion at the NHL Draft not only rekindled fond memories but also served as a reminder of the values instilled by mentors like Estevez during their formative years in Hollywood.
