Kremer's Dominance Leads Orioles to Victory Over Marlins

Dean Kremer delivered a masterful performance, throwing seven innings of three-hit baseball as the Baltimore Orioles triumphed over the Miami Marlins 5-2 on Friday night. Ryan O'Hearn and Ramón Laureano each contributed two RBIs, bolstering the Orioles' recent surge.

Jordan Westburg shone brightly, collecting three hits and crossing home plate three times. This victory marked the Orioles' sixth win in their last seven games, bringing their record to 43-50, the closest they have been to .500 since early May.

Kremer (8-7) showcased his skills by striking out seven batters and allowing just one runner to reach second base throughout his 99-pitch outing. He concluded his performance with two consecutive strikeouts, leaving the Marlins scoreless until the ninth inning.

Otto Lopez's two-run homer in the final frame prevented Miami from suffering a second consecutive shutout, providing a glimmer of hope for the team.

Returning to Baltimore for the first time since his trade to Miami last July, NL All-Star Kyle Stowers went 1 for 3 with a walk. The crowd of 22,213 acknowledged Stowers with applause, recalling his contributions during his three seasons with the Orioles.

Connor Norby, also part of the trade, managed to secure one hit in three at-bats.

The Orioles wasted no time establishing dominance against Miami starter Edward Cabrera (3-4). Westburg's single brought in a run, and he later scored on O'Hearn's double in the first inning. The third inning saw Baltimore string together four consecutive hits, highlighted by an RBI single from O'Hearn and a run-scoring double from Laureano.

Cabrera exited the game after four innings due to right elbow discomfort, having allowed four runs. "We had a conversation with the coaches and manager, and they decided to just take me out of the game," Cabrera explained through an interpreter. "It's just a little fatigue but nothing major, thank goodness."

Laureano added another run in the seventh inning with a single, extending the lead to 5-0.

Jackson Holliday set an aggressive tone for the game by ripping Cabrera's first pitch into center field for a double, allowing Baltimore to score twice before recording two outs.

The Orioles improved their record to 8-24 in games where they do not hit home runs. Looking ahead, Trevor Rogers (2-0, 1.57 ERA) is set to make his fifth start of the season against the Marlins on Saturday, while Janson Junk (3-1, 3.12) will take the mound for Miami.
