Kristi Noem Responds to South Park Parody with Social Media Update

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, often referred to as “ICE Barbie,” has taken to social media in response to a recent episode of South Park that parodied her controversial public image.

The animated series, known for its sharp satire, featured Noem in a segment that mocked her affinity for portraying a glamorous ICE agent, alongside a reference to an incident involving her puppy, Cricket. The portrayal drew significant attention and ridicule on Wednesday.

In a bid to show she is unfazed by the mockery, Noem updated her profile picture on X, sharing an altered image from the episode. The new profile features the caption “JOIN.ICE.GOV,” which was subsequently amplified by the official Homeland Security account with the bold declaration: “THE DEPORTATIONS WILL CONTINUE.”

The image she shared is derived from a scene where Noem conducts a training video for ICE recruits while shooting puppies, albeit with the addition of “laser eyes” that were not part of the original episode. This meme element suggests empowerment and strength, often associated with the “Dark MAGA” culture, which portrays figures like Donald Trump as assertive and unyielding.

“It’s so lazy to constantly make fun of women for how they look,” Noem stated during an appearance on Glenn Beck's radio show. “It’s always the liberals and the extremists who do that. If they wanted to criticize my job, go ahead and do that, but clearly they can’t; they just pick something petty like that.”

Noem’s experience is not unique among right-wing figures featured in the latest South Park episode. Former President Trump was depicted once again in a relationship with Satan, while Vice President JD Vance appeared as a diminutive version of Trump. Vance humorously acknowledged his portrayal on X, stating: “Well, I’ve finally made it.”

Additionally, right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk faced criticism in the episode, with the character Eric Cartman expressing frustration over Kirk and others allegedly “stealing his schtick.” Cartman attempts to capitalize on the podcast trend by adopting a Kirk-like appearance and debating style.

“MAGA is completely taking over everything cool,” remarked one MAGA supporter on X, a sentiment that was reshared by Kirk himself. In a show of solidarity with his animated counterpart, Kirk also updated his profile picture to reflect his cartoon parody.

Despite being labeled “irrelevant” by the Trump administration, South Park continues to provoke reactions from its subjects, illustrating the ongoing interplay between political figures and popular culture.
