Marlins Secure Fourth Consecutive Series with 4-1 Win Over Twins
Agustín Ramírez launched a two-run homer, leading the Miami Marlins to a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday, marking their fourth consecutive series win.
On the mound, Eury Pérez (1-2) delivered an impressive performance, striking out a season-high seven batters while allowing just one hit and walking one in six innings. This marked Pérez's first win since June 25, 2023, against Pittsburgh. Cade Gibson took over in the seventh after throwing 80 pitches.
With this victory, the Marlins improved to 39-46, having won 10 of their last 12 games, including an eight-game winning streak. They now share the same record as the Atlanta Braves, placing them third in the NL East.
The Twins struggled during their six-game road trip, finishing with a 2-4 record and suffering a series loss to Detroit.
Ramírez's home run came off a 1-2 fastball from Twins starter David Festa (2-3), soaring 425 feet to left-center during a three-run first inning.
Festa allowed five hits and four runs while recording seven strikeouts over six innings of work.
Xavier Edwards contributed significantly with two singles, leading off both the first and third innings, and stole his team-leading 15th base. Kyle Stowers saw his nine-game hitting streak come to an end, going 0-for-3. Ronny Henriquez secured his fifth save of the season.
In the seventh inning, Matt Wallner broke the shutout with a solo home run off Gibson, bringing the score to 4-1. Following Wallner's two-out homer, Anthony Bender faced some pressure, giving up consecutive singles before managing to get pinch-hitter Ryan Jeffers to ground out and end the inning.
Ramírez continues to shine among rookies, leading all major league newcomers with 13 home runs. His latest homer also extended his lead in extra-base hits to 29, which includes 15 doubles and one triple.
