Jul 09 2025

Lionel Messi etched his name in Major League Soccer history by scoring twice, propelling Inter Miami to a 2-1 victory against the New England Revolution on Wednesday night. This performance marks the first time any player has achieved four consecutive multi-goal games in the league.

With this win, Miami improved its record to 10-3-5, extending their unbeaten streak to five matches and securing four victories in a row.

The opening goal came in the 27th minute when defender Tanner Beason misjudged a header, allowing Messi to seize the opportunity. He struck with a half-volley that found the back of the net.

Messi doubled the lead in the 38th minute, receiving a perfectly timed pass from Sergio Busquets just beyond midfield. The Argentine superstar executed a first-touch shot from the edge of the penalty area, sending the ball past the goalkeeper and inside the right post.

Goalkeeper Γ“scar Ustari made five crucial saves for Miami, showcasing his skills throughout the match.

On the other side, New England's struggles continued as they remain winless in their last five outings. Carles Gil managed to score for the Revolution in the 79th minute, but it was not enough to change the outcome. Aljaz Ivacic recorded one save during the match.
