Mick Foley Ends WWE Association Over Trump's Comments

Dec 16 2025

Mick Foley has officially parted ways with WWE, a decision he attributes to the company's perceived alignment with President Donald Trump. The retired wrestler expressed that Trump's recent comments regarding the late Rob Reiner were the "last straw."

On December 16, Foley, 60, took to Instagram to share his concerns about WWE's relationship with Trump, stating he had been uneasy for several months. His apprehension intensified due to what he described as the administration's "cruel and inhumane treatment of immigrants and anyone who resembles an immigrant."

The pivotal moment for Foley came after he read Trump's remarks following Reiner's tragic death. "That was the final straw for me," he stated, reflecting on the president's insensitivity.

Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were discovered deceased in their home on December 14, victims of a homicide. Their son, Nick Reiner, 32, has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, facing potential life imprisonment or even the death penalty if convicted.

As Hollywood mourned the loss of the 78-year-old director and his 68-year-old spouse, Trump issued a statement that many interpreted as blaming Reiner's political views for his demise. "A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood," Trump wrote on Truth Social, referring to Reiner as a "tortured and struggling" figure whose obsession with him led to his downfall.

Foley's reaction was swift. He declared that he could "no longer" represent a company that supports someone he perceives as lacking compassion. "I informed WWE talent relations that I would not be making any appearances for the company as long as this man remains in office," he said.

He further noted that he would not renew his Legends deal when it expires in June. "I love WWE and treasure my time there," Foley added, quoting Popeye: "I stands all I can stands, and I can't stands no more."

WWE has yet to respond to requests for comment regarding Foley's departure.

Foley is well-known not only as a professional wrestler but also as a comedian and author. He gained fame in the ring under various personas, including Cactus Jack and Mankind, making his WWE debut in 1996. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013 after retiring from wrestling.

Trump's connection to WWE dates back years, including appearances on their programs and his induction into the Hall of Fame in 2013. The former CEO of WWE, Vince McMahon, who resigned in 2024 amid allegations of sexual assault—which he denies—has had a long-standing relationship with Trump.

Currently, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Michael Levesque, known as Triple H, is part of the president’s fitness council.
