NASCAR Street Race Concludes in Chicago: Will It Return?

Jul 06 2025

The final NASCAR Street Race weekend in Chicago has come to a close, with the checkered flag waving just as rain began to fall over Grant Park.

After two years of weather disruptions, this year's event managed to avoid the downpours until the very end, allowing racing enthusiasts to enjoy a mostly dry experience. Many attendees left with positive impressions, celebrating the event's success.

Sunday's crowd, largely comprised of locals, included many who were attending their first NASCAR race. Their feedback was overwhelmingly favorable, with a strong sentiment that the event should continue in the Windy City.

"I would love for it to stay here. I'm really excited for Foret to be here. So I think this is something that would bring people back," expressed Tay'Hiana Welch, highlighting the local enthusiasm.

Bruce Walker echoed this sentiment, stating, "They need to come back again. They really do. I think it's very entertaining. If you look, you got people who have never been to the races before."

Aishah Hasan added her perspective, saying, "I cannot see it in any other city, honestly. Chicago is the best," emphasizing the unique appeal of hosting such an event in Chicago.

According to estimates from the Chicago Sports Commission, last year's street race attracted over 53,000 attendees, marking an increase of approximately 6,000 from its inaugural year. Notably, more than half of last year's visitors were from outside the area, drawn specifically to experience the race.

As discussions about the future of the NASCAR Street Race in Chicago continue, the local community remains hopeful for its return, eager to welcome back both fans and racers alike.
