Patriots Rookie Will Campbell Carted Off with Knee Injury

Nov 23 2025

During the New England Patriots' game against the Cincinnati Bengals on November 23, rookie left tackle Will Campbell was carted off the field due to a knee injury.

The 21-year-old athlete sustained the injury mid-game, prompting immediate medical attention. “It looked to be [his] right knee that was injured,” an announcer noted during the broadcast.

Following the incident, the official Patriots X page reported that Campbell was “questionable to return,” but he was later ruled “out” for the remainder of the game.

In a parallel incident, teammate Jared Wilson also had to be carted off, leading to Vederian Lowe and Ben Brown stepping in as replacements.

Campbell, who joined the Patriots after being selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity earlier this year. “Blessed is an understatement,” he shared on Instagram in April.

Reflecting on his draft experience, Campbell recalled, “I was sitting there, antsy, waiting on it. I had a feeling it was coming. I was just super thankful. I worked really hard to put myself in the best position possible [and] have the opportunity like I had last night.” He emphasized the significance of representing a storied franchise like the Patriots.

Determined to contribute to the team's success, Campbell stated, “I want to excel in everything. I just want to grow my game from every aspect. I’m super excited to get to work.”

As he began training with the Patriots, Campbell focused on enhancing his skills. “I’ve just tried to get better at it every single day,” he told reporters in September. “The players that I’m going against now are a lot more talented than what I went against in college.”

He acknowledged the stark differences between college football and the NFL, saying, “The NFL is a completely different ball game, it doesn’t really matter what conference. It really just comes down to preparation and also reps.”

Campbell’s life outside of football is equally engaging. “Whenever I leave the facility, [there isn’t] much going on in Foxborough, so I just nap or call my family and stuff like that. I really just kind of lay low,” he explained. The Louisiana native enjoys hunting during his downtime, having hunted deer, gators, and hogs.

Despite Campbell's injury, the Patriots managed to secure a narrow victory over the Bengals, winning 26-20. The status of Campbell for next week’s game against the New York Giants remains uncertain.
