Paul George Undergoes Knee Surgery, Set for Rehabilitation

Jul 14 2025

Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George has successfully completed an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee, addressing an injury sustained during a recent workout, the team confirmed on Monday.

Details surrounding the specific nature of the injury remain undisclosed by the Sixers.

The surgery was conducted by Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow at the NYU – Langone Sports Medicine Orthopedic Center. Following the procedure, George will embark on a rehabilitation program and is expected to be re-evaluated prior to the commencement of training camp.

This left knee issue adds to a series of injuries that have plagued George since he signed a four-year, $211 million max contract with the Sixers before the 2024-25 season.

Last season marked George's first with Philadelphia, where he participated in only 41 games due to various injuries, including issues with his knee, abductor, and finger. He averaged 16.2 points per game while shooting 35.8% from beyond the arc. The team opted to shut him down in March to facilitate his recovery.

George was not alone in facing injury challenges; former NBA MVP Joel Embiid and All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey also missed significant time as the team strategically tanked to enhance their chances of retaining their first-round draft pick.

With that first-round selection, the Sixers chose Baylor guard VJ Edgecombe, who is currently sidelined with a left thumb sprain that has kept him from participating in the Las Vegas Summer League. However, he was able to fully engage in practice on Monday.
