Retired NFL Star Vernon Davis Addresses Allegations of Attacking Pregnant Woman

Feb 01 2026

Vernon Davis has publicly addressed allegations of assault following accusations that he attacked a pregnant woman last year. In a statement shared on Instagram, Davis expressed his sadness over the situation and his desire to clear his name.

"I'm aware and saddened by the reporting and look forward to clearing my name," he wrote on January 30. The former NFL star emphasized his focus on personal and professional commitments, stating, "For now, I’m staying focused on my life, my work, and the amazing people and partners who believe in and continue to support me. Your positivity means everything. ā¤ļøšŸ¤."

In the criminal complaint filed on January 8, details emerged regarding an incident that allegedly took place at Davis' home on May 31, 2025. An unnamed woman claims that a dispute arose concerning her pregnancy, during which she alleges Davis struck her with "magazines + books from under his TV." The complaint indicates that the altercation ceased when she began recording the incident on her phone. Following this, Davis reportedly offered her $10,000.

Another incident is cited in the complaint, occurring on June 7, 2025. The woman alleges that Davis slapped her in the face after she questioned him, instructing her "not to question him." She claims to have recorded a conversation later that night in which Davis remarked, "If I really slapped you, your face would be blue/black."

The complaint also references a prior physical altercation that left the woman with visible bruises, which she asserts occurred days before the May 31 incident and before she learned of her pregnancy. Reports indicate that there is an ongoing investigation into allegations of strangulation and assault related to this earlier incident.

A warrant for Davis' arrest was issued on January 8 for charges of assault and battery, with a court appearance scheduled for February. Davis, who began his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers in 2006, later played for the Denver Broncos, winning Super Bowl 50 in 2015. He concluded his professional career with the Washington Football Team in 2019.
