Sherrone Moore's Family Life Amid Controversy

Dec 11 2025

The University of Michigan made headlines on December 10 when it announced the firing of head football coach Sherrone Moore following an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a staff member.

Just hours before the announcement, Moore, 39, was taken into custody related to an assault investigation. As of Thursday morning, December 11, he remains detained.

As speculation swirls around Moore's alleged misconduct, attention shifts to his family. Married to Kelli since 2015, the couple has three daughters: Shiloh, born in 2019; Solei, born in 2022; and their youngest, Sadie, whose birth date has not been disclosed.

Since joining the Michigan coaching staff in 2018, Moore and Kelli have maintained a low profile, sharing little about their family life on social media. Athletic director Warde Manuel acknowledged the family when Moore was promoted to head coach in 2024, expressing excitement about their involvement in the program.

Kelli often attended games, bringing their daughters along at times, but she noted that the girls were not particularly invested in their father's coaching success. “Our daughters don’t care about the outcome of the games; they just want daddy to sit down and read them a book when he gets home,” she remarked in November, as shared by the Broyles Award on X.

A feature by The Athletic highlighted Moore’s commitment to family life during his tenure as offensive coordinator and interim head coach. After a significant victory against Ohio State, he returned home and spent 45 minutes reading to his daughters. “There was no watching TV,” Moore recounted. “They told me to sit on the beanbag and sit there, and I did. I read the books. It doesn’t really matter what I do on the field; when I’m home, I’m Dad.”

Former Michigan guard Trevor Keegan, now with the Dallas Cowboys, praised Moore for setting a positive example in family interactions. “He’s made us such better people with our family,” Keegan said. “It’s more than just football with him; there are a lot of off-the-field lessons.”

Moore's coaching career included leading Michigan to a 9-3 regular season and a Citrus Bowl appearance against Texas on New Year’s Eve.

The Pittsfield Police Department released a statement regarding Moore’s arrest, indicating that the incident did not appear random and posed no ongoing threat to the community. They emphasized the need for confidentiality due to the nature of the allegations and the integrity of the investigation.

Details regarding specific charges against Moore remain undisclosed at this time.
