T.J. McConnell is on the brink of NBA glory, having propelled the Indiana Pacers to a Game 7 showdown in the Finals after a commanding 108-91 victory on Thursday night.
In this pivotal game, McConnell, a graduate of Chartiers Valley, delivered a standout performance with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals, showcasing his all-around skills.
Notably, as reported by local sources, McConnell has etched his name in history as only the second player from the WPIAL or City League to achieve at least 10 points and 9 rebounds in an NBA Finals game.
The atmosphere at Gainbridge Fieldhouse was electric, with fans chanting T.J.'s name, a testament to his impact on the court.
After the game, Tim McConnell made a surprise entrance during his son's postgame interview, expressing immense pride in T.J.'s determination. "I'll tell you right now, he's a warrior," he stated emphatically. "It doesn't matter how tall you are."
Tim's coaching legacy is significant; he led the Chartiers Valley boys' team to six WPIAL championships and later coached the girls' team to three WPIAL titles and a PIAA state championship. His daughter Megan now plays in the WNBA.
"I can't be more proud to say I have a son in the NBA and a daughter in the WNBA," Tim shared, reflecting on their family's achievements. "This is a dream come true."

"Anything can happen in Game 7," Tim remarked. "We're going to OKC to try and win a world championship, and my son is a part of it, and I can't believe that."
