Texas Teacher, 31, Arrested for Alleged Sexual Relationship with Middle Schooler
A former teacher from Texas faces serious charges for allegedly engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a middle school student. Kara Hernandez, 31, was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges related to this serious allegation.
Hernandez, who previously taught at Ronald Thornton Middle School, resigned from her position in September 2024. This resignation came after a former student reported her alleged misconduct to the school district, prompting an investigation, as reported by local news sources.
On February 14, Hernandez was arrested and charged with indecency with a child involving sexual contact, as well as having an improper relationship between an educator and a student. The alleged incidents reportedly took place around April 1, 2022, while she was still employed at the Houston-area school. According to court documents obtained by local media, a grand jury indictment claims that Hernandez intentionally engaged in sexual contact with a student enrolled at the school.

In a Facebook post discussing Hernandez's arrest, several individuals claiming to be parents of students at the school mentioned that she was an orchestra teacher. However, these claims have not been independently verified. The Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD) confirmed that Hernandez resigned during the investigation into the allegations against her.
In a letter sent to parents, FBISD addressed the situation, stating, “Recently, allegations of past inappropriate conduct by a Thornton Middle School staff member were brought to the district's attention by a former student. Fort Bend ISD immediately began an investigation, and the staff member was immediately removed from the campus and placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The staff member will not be returning to FBISD.”
In a follow-up statement to local news outlets, the district emphasized their swift action, noting, “The district took action immediately after allegations came to light, and during our investigation, the teacher resigned in place of termination in September 2024.”

As of now, Hernandez's bond has been set at $50,000, with $25,000 allocated for each of the charges she faces. Her next court appearance is scheduled for April 28, where further developments in this troubling case are expected to unfold.
