Trump's Golf Game Exposes a Different Scorecard

Aug 25 2025

Roger Clemens, the former baseball star, revealed President Donald Trump's less-than-stellar performance during a recent golf outing, where Trump finished last among four players. This disclosure comes amid Trump's vocal support for Clemens' induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame, countering allegations of steroid use against the pitcher.

On Sunday, Clemens shared the scorecard from their game at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, humorously noting, “For everyone asking about the scorecard! Mr. President didn’t miss a fairway!!” The scorecard indicated that Clemens’ son Kacy led with a score of 69, followed by John O’Leary at 71. Clemens himself scored 76, while Trump, identified as “45/47,” trailed with a score of 77.

Despite boasting a golf handicap of 2.8, Trump's fourth-place finish starkly contrasts with his claims of triumphs at his own golf courses throughout the year. He kicked off the year with a win at the Senior Club Championship at Trump International in West Palm Beach, although reports suggested that no one witnessed his play, raising eyebrows about the legitimacy of his victory.

In March, Trump secured another win at the Golf Club Championship in Palm Beach County. His April victory at the Senior Club Championship in Jupiter was celebrated by supporters, even though he technically tied with another player. “It’s good to win. You heard I won, right? Did you hear I won?” he told reporters, emphasizing his competitive spirit.

This month, the White House shared Trump's scorecard from the Men’s Senior Club Championship at Bedminster, touting him as a winner both on and off the course. However, these claims have been shadowed by allegations of cheating, with footage showing caddies seemingly dropping balls near Trump during play.

Rick Reilly, author of "Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump," criticized these actions on social media, stating, “It’s NEVER legal for your caddy to drop a ball. YOU can drop one, but never on a green.” He concluded with a blunt accusation: “Our president is a f---ing golf cheat.”

Amidst this controversy, Trump took to Truth Social to advocate for Clemens’ Hall of Fame induction, dismissing drug allegations against the seven-time Cy Young Award winner as “erroneous.” In 2007, accusations surfaced claiming Clemens used performance-enhancing drugs during his MLB career—a charge he denied under oath before Congress. Although he was indicted on multiple felony counts in 2010, a jury acquitted him in 2012.

Despite his legal victories, Clemens has consistently fallen short of Hall of Fame induction votes. Trump defended him passionately: “People think he took drugs, but nothing was proven. He never tested positive... That rumor has gone on for years, and there has been no evidence whatsoever that he was a ‘druggie.’”

Trump's post concluded with an emphatic call to action: “354 Wins—Put him in NOW. He and his great family should not be forced to endure this ‘stupidity’ any longer!”

Clemens echoed Trump's sentiments on social media, asserting that “DT knows more than anyone the fake news that’s out there.” He emphasized his commitment to the game and his family's legacy: “I played the game to change my family’s direction generationally and to WIN!”
