Trump to Attend Ryder Cup, Backs Keegan Bradley for Team

Aug 24 2025

President Trump confirmed his attendance at the upcoming Ryder Cup, scheduled for September 26-28 in Farmingdale, New York. He expressed strong support for Keegan Bradley, advocating for him to serve as captain of the US team.

“Keegan Bradley should DEFINITELY be on the American Ryder Cup Team – As Captain!!! He is an AMAZING guy,” Trump posted on Truth Social, emphasizing his enthusiasm for the event.

Trump's presence at the tournament is set for Tournament Friday, as he noted in his message, “It will be a great Ryder Cup. At the invite of the PGA Tour, I will be there on Tournament Friday!!! President DJT.”

Bradley, who honed his skills at St. John’s University in Queens, is well-acquainted with Long Island and the iconic Bethpage Black Golf Course, the venue for this year’s competition. “I think going to St. John’s and being on Long Island, being in Queens, has really taught me how important Bethpage is to the locals here in New York City and on Long Island,” he shared with USA TODAY Sports.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman expressed excitement about Trump’s attendance, stating, “We are honored President Trump will be in Nassau County for the Ryder Cup. Go USA!”

At 39 years old, Bradley is set to captain the US Ryder Cup team in 2025 but has yet to confirm his participation as a player. The captain traditionally selects half of the team members, but it is uncommon for them to choose themselves. The last instance of this was Arnold Palmer in 1963.

Currently ranked 13th in the world, Bradley is expected to announce his decision regarding team selection soon. He indicated that he would reveal which six players will join those who qualify automatically. “I promise you we’re going to make the best decision for the team and it’s going to be controversial either way,” he remarked on Friday. “I’m ready for it. I know this is the biggest decision of my life.”

This decision carries significant weight given Bradley's impressive performance this year, including a victory at the Travelers Championship in June, which positions him as a strong candidate for the US team. The six players who have automatically qualified include Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun, Russell Henley, Harris English, and Bryson DeChambeau.
