Atlanta Dream Halts Lynx's Home Winning Streak with 90-86 Victory

Jul 28 2025

Brittney Griner lit up the scoreboard with a season-high 22 points, leading the Atlanta Dream to a stunning 90-86 victory over the Minnesota Lynx, who had not lost at home in 15 games this season.

With just three minutes remaining, the Lynx found themselves down 83-70. However, a determined push saw them narrow the gap to three points, thanks to Napheesa Collier's basket with only 11.3 seconds left on the clock. Jordin Canada sealed the game with a free throw seven seconds later.

The fourth quarter began with Atlanta hitting their first six shots, showcasing their offensive prowess. Collier managed to block one of those attempts but could not stop the Dream from scoring three consecutive baskets afterward. In that final period, Collier was a force, contributing 13 points.

Canada finished the game with 18 points for Atlanta (15-10), while teammates Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Allisha Gray each added 12 points to the tally.

On the other side, Collier was exceptional for the Lynx (22-5), scoring 32 points on an impressive 14-of-18 shooting, along with eight rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and two blocks. Alanna Smith chipped in with 12 points, while Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.

This loss snapped the Lynx's franchise-record home winning streak, which now stands as the fourth-longest in WNBA history.

Despite a rough third quarter where Atlanta shot only 5-of-20, Minnesota capitalized on this slump to cut a 14-point halftime deficit down to just three. However, in the other three quarters, the Dream shot an impressive 29 of 45 (71%).

While the Lynx managed to shoot at a solid 56% overall, their performance dipped to 48% after Collier. Additionally, they were outscored by nine points at the free-throw line.

Looking ahead, the Lynx will conclude their five-game homestand on Wednesday when they face off against the defending champion New York Liberty, marking the first meeting of the season between last year's WNBA finalists.
