Sky Triumph Over Lynx as Angel Reese Shines with Eighth Double-Double
Ariel Atkins led the charge for the Chicago Sky, scoring 27 points in a thrilling 87-81 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday. Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso also made significant contributions, each recording double-doubles in the match.
Reese's performance was particularly noteworthy, as she tallied 19 points and 11 rebounds, marking her eighth consecutive double-double and the 14th of the season. Cardoso complemented her efforts with 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Rachel Banham added to the Sky's success, sinking three 3-pointers to finish with 12 points.
As the game progressed, Courtney Williams narrowed Minnesota's deficit to 75-73 with two free throws. However, Cardoso responded by making two foul shots of her own, leading to a technical foul called on Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve. Banham capitalized on the situation, converting the resulting free throw, while Michaela Onyenwere extended the lead with a pull-up jumper along the baseline, pushing the score to 80-73 with five minutes remaining.
With this win, Chicago improved to 7-13 overall, achieving back-to-back victories for only the second time this season. Despite their struggles against teams with winning records—now standing at 1-10—this victory marks a positive turn for the Sky.

Napheesa Collier was a standout for Minnesota, contributing 26 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals, and three blocks. Kayla McBride supported her with 17 points, while Williams added 13; however, they combined for just 34% shooting from the field, hitting 11 of 32 attempts.
In a notable moment, Collier's streak of 54 consecutive made free throws came to an end when she missed her first attempt late in the third quarter. This loss marked Minnesota's (18-4) second defeat in three games, a rare occurrence for them this season.
