Buddy Guy Celebrates 89th Birthday with New Album Release
Legendary blues guitarist Buddy Guy marked his 89th birthday on Wednesday by unveiling a new album titled "Ain't Done with the Blues," a fitting tribute to his enduring legacy in Chicago blues.
The album showcases a diverse lineup of guest artists, including Joe Walsh, known for his work with The Eagles, who collaborates with Guy on the lead single "How Blues Is That."
In addition, 26-year-old blues sensation Christone "Kingfish" Ingram joins Guy on the track "Where U At," while renowned guitarist Joe Bonamassa features on "Dry Stick." The legendary Peter Frampton also lends his talents to the song "It Keeps Me Young."
This 18-track collection represents Guy's first full-length studio release since "The Blues Don't Lie," which debuted in 2022.
To celebrate both his birthday and the album launch, an event was held at Buddy Guy's Legends, located at 700 S. Wabash Ave. in the South Loop.
Guy, who headlined the Chicago Blues Festival in 2024, is set to embark on a tour this August, performing in Arizona and California.
His contributions to the genre continue to resonate, solidifying his status as a pivotal figure in the blues music scene.
