Cam York Secures Five-Year Extension with Philadelphia Flyers

Jul 07 2025

The Philadelphia Flyers have finalized a five-year contract extension with restricted free agent Cam York, valued at $25.75 million.

This deal will see York's cap hit set at $5.15 million annually, extending through the 2029-30 NHL season. As the salary cap is projected to rise from $88 million to $113.5 million by the 2027-28 season, this contract could prove advantageous for the Flyers.

Initial reports of the agreement emerged from a Canadian sports network.

Securing the 25-year-old defenseman marks a significant step for the Flyers as they transition from a rebuilding phase to a competitive stance. With York being the last unsigned player on the roster, this move addresses a critical offseason priority.

Drafted 14th overall in 2019, York has averaged nearly 21 minutes of ice time per game throughout his career, all spent with Philadelphia. He has accumulated 77 points over 235 games, contributing to a team that has not reached the playoffs since 2020.

With York's extension, general manager Danny Briere appears to have completed his summer agenda. Earlier this offseason, Rick Tocchet was appointed as head coach. Recently, the Flyers bolstered their roster by signing goalie Dan Vladar, center Christian Dvorak, and defenseman Noah Juulsen during free agency. Additionally, they selected prospects Porter Martone and Jack Nesbitt in last monthโ€™s NHL draft.
