Courtney Williams of Lynx Earns Spot in WNBA All-Star Reserve

Minnesota Lynx guard Courtney Williams has secured a position in the 2025 WNBA All-Star Reserve, as announced by the team on Sunday.

This selection marks a significant achievement for Williams, being her first All-Star nod with the Lynx and the second overall in her professional career. She becomes the 14th player in the franchise's history to earn this honor.

Joining her in the All-Star festivities is teammate Napheesa Collier, who will take on the role of captain for the event. This year’s selection highlights a notable trend, as it is the tenth instance of multiple Lynx players being chosen for the All-Star Game in the same season.

Williams kicked off the season impressively, recording 19 assists without a single turnover in her first two games against the Dallas Wings and Los Angeles Sparks. This performance ties her for the highest assist total with zero turnovers over a two-game stretch in WNBA history, according to team statistics. Additionally, she achieved a season-high of 25 points and a career-best five assists during a pivotal third quarter against the Wings.

The All-Star reserves were determined by votes from the WNBA's 13 head coaches, each casting ballots for three guards, five frontcourt players, and four players at any position, irrespective of conference affiliation. Notably, coaches were prohibited from voting for their own players.

On July 19, captains Caitlin Clark and Collier will draft their teams from a pool of eight other starters, which includes Minnesota native Paige Bueckers, Breanna Stewart, A'ja Wilson, Nneka Ogwumike, Allisha Gray, Sabrina Ionescu, Satou Sabally, and Aliyah Boston.

The complete All-Star teams will be unveiled on Tuesday.

Among those notably absent from the roster are Washington's Brittney Sykes, Atlanta's Brionna Jones, New York's Natasha Cloud, and Los Angeles' Dearica Hamby.

Connecticut stands out as the only team without an All-Star selection this year.
