Cubs Fan Gains Attention for Laptop Use in Wrigley Bleachers
During a bustling day at Wrigley Field, a young man turned heads by setting up his laptop in the bleachers while the Chicago Cubs faced off against the Milwaukee Brewers on August 19.
Broadcasted live on Marquee Sports Network, the fan's multitasking earned him the title of Mike’s Hard Lemonade Fan of the Game. “How badly do you want it?” Cubs announcer Jon Sciambi quipped as he narrated footage of the scene. “Did you bring your mouse? You better bring your mouse.”
Sciambi, 55, raised an eyebrow at the sight, questioning whether the fan was genuinely working or perhaps preoccupied with his fantasy football draft. “Is this guy doing work?” he mused aloud. “My other thought is that he’s going over [his] fantasy football draft.”
Jim Deshaies, the Cubs’ color analyst, chimed in, suggesting, “He could be working, you know?” He also noted that this game was a make-up for a rainout from the previous day.
The doubleheader at Wrigley Field saw the Cubs triumph in both games, winning 6-4 in the afternoon and 4-1 later that evening. Meanwhile, Major League Baseball’s social media accounts joined in on the fun, sharing a clip of the fan with a caption that read: “I hope this email finds you well.” The follow-up line humorously referenced the video.
Fans took to social media to commend the man’s ability to juggle work and baseball. “Have to applaud the effort if he is working from the game,” one user commented. Another added, “Rather be emailing at Wrigley than not be there.”

However, not everyone was pleased with the spotlight on the fan. Some criticized MLB for exposing him, with one commenter urging, “Delete this please. As long as he gets the work done his location doesn’t need to be shared.” Another quipped, “This guy is definitely getting fired now. Hope you offer him a job.”
Amidst discussions of professional ethics, another observer raised a practical question: how did he manage to bring his laptop into the stadium? “I can’t carry anything into a stadium bigger than a postcard in a clear bag,” they noted. “How did this guy smuggle his laptop in?”
The Cubs and Brewers are set to continue their five-game series with a matchup at Wrigley Field on August 20 at 8:05 PM ET.
