Diddy Seeks House Arrest in Miami Ahead of Sentencing

Sean “Diddy” Combs filed a motion Tuesday, aiming for release from jail as he awaits sentencing scheduled for October. This comes after a New York jury acquitted him of the most severe sex crime charges he faced.

His legal team proposed a $50 million bond package, requesting that he be allowed to live under house arrest in his Miami mansion while he navigates the aftermath of two prostitution convictions.

“Sean Combs should not be in jail for this conduct,” stated Marc Agnifilo, Combs’ attorney, in a letter to the court. “In fact, he may be the only person currently in a United States jail for being any sort of john.”

However, convincing Judge Arun Subramanian to grant this request may prove challenging. The recent filing reiterates arguments previously dismissed by the court.

Judge Subramanian has mandated that Combs remain at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn until his sentencing on October 3, citing concerns over the rapper’s history of violence towards former partners, including R&B singer Cassie Ventura.

“It’s impossible for the defendant to show he poses no danger to any person,” Subramanian remarked following the July 2 verdict.

Combs faced a potential life sentence had he been convicted on the most serious charges during a two-month trial that exposed his disturbing preferences for “freak-offs”—drug-fueled encounters where he observed his girlfriend with male escorts.

Despite the acquittal on major charges, the jury found him guilty of two counts under the Mann Act, which prohibits transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.

Prosecutors are expected to advocate for a prison term ranging from 51 to 63 months, while Combs’ defense will argue for his release based on time already served.

Subramanian has set a deadline for federal prosecutors to respond to Combs’ motion by Thursday.
