Draymond Green Critiques Dak Prescott's Performance Amid Cowboys Struggles
Quarterback Dak Prescott, a three-time Pro Bowler, has been at the helm of the Dallas Cowboys' offense for a decade, yet his performance is under scrutiny.
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is not holding back his criticism. “Dak’s a bum,” Green stated during the November 4 episode of his podcast, “Why Is Draymond Green Talking About Football.” He elaborated, “He’s getting some numbers and they stink. You will never win with Dak.”
The Cowboys currently sit at 3-5-1 after a disappointing 27-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, which prompted Green's remarks to cohost Jordan Schultz.
“I have won four championships, Jordan,” Green continued, emphasizing his perspective. “When I say bum, I’m not saying Dak Prescott isn’t a good NFL quarterback. Of course he is a good NFL quarterback. But when it’s all on the line for all the marbles… He’s a bum.”
Despite Prescott's regular season achievements, his playoff record stands at 2-5, with critical turnovers in high-pressure situations fueling the narrative that he falters when it matters most.
Green, a four-time NBA Champion alongside Stephen Curry, has his own accolades but is now weighing in on football dynamics.
In response to the latest loss, Prescott acknowledged the team's shortcomings, stating that the Cardinals “kicked our ass on both sides of the ball.” He expressed frustration with the performance, saying, “It’s very frustrating knowing that you’re better than that and not putting on a performance that’s close to your standard.”
In that game, Prescott completed 24 of 39 passes, recording one touchdown and one interception while being sacked five times.
ESPN analyst and former Cowboys defensive lineman Marcus Spears countered Green's comments on Wednesday's episode of First Take. “Draymond made the point about being a four-time champion and when it’s on the line, Dak doesn’t show up,” Spears remarked. “You can put that in his wheelhouse. It’s just the respect of calling a dude a ‘bum’ who has played football at the level he has.”
Spears further critiqued Green's stance, noting, “It’s a bit rich coming from Draymond Green, who’s played with arguably a top-5 player in NBA history. He’s been very important to their championship success, but Dak Prescott would be the Steph Curry of his team in terms of leadership. Football dynamics differ significantly when it comes to winning championships; it’s not solely about the quarterback’s performance.”
