Dropkick Murphys Set for Free Concert in Quincy

Jun 30 2025

The Dropkick Murphys are gearing up for a free concert in Quincy, Massachusetts, marking a significant homecoming for the band.

Scheduled for July 12, the street concert will take place in Quincy Center, directly across from 1250 Hancock St., from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This event is part of the city's year-long celebration of its 400th anniversary.

Quincy officials noted, "Over the past three decades, the band has become a beloved symbol of Massachusetts pride, known for their electrifying performances and fiercely loyal fan base." The concert is particularly special as it celebrates the band's roots in Quincy.

Founded in 1996, the Dropkick Murphys began their journey just a mile away from the concert site on Hancock Street, where they honed their craft.

Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "The Dropkick Murphys are not just a world-famous band - they're part of our Quincy story. We are honored to welcome home the Dropkick Murphys for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of music and community spirit."

Known for iconic tracks like "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" and "Tessie," the band is also set to release a new album titled "For The People" on July 4.

To prepare for the concert, parts of Hancock Street and nearby areas will close starting Friday, July 11 at 11 a.m. Attendees should expect random bag searches as part of security measures.

The Quincy400 celebration honors the city's settlement in 1625, with various events planned throughout the year. The Maritime Festival during the July 4th weekend will highlight Quincy's rich maritime history and vibrant community.

Later this summer, Quincy will host Darius Rucker from Hootie and the Blowfish for a sold-out concert at Veterans Memorial Stadium on August 2, followed by John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival on August 3.
