Five Philadelphia Eagles Players Poised for Breakout Seasons in 2025
With training camp on the horizon, anticipation builds around the Philadelphia Eagles and their potential breakout stars for the 2025 season. Last year, players like Zack Baun and Nakobe Dean made headlines during their Super Bowl-winning campaign, but the focus now shifts to new faces ready to step into the spotlight.
The Eagles face a notable shift in their defensive line depth, particularly at edge rusher. The departures of Josh Sweat and Milton Williams in free agency, coupled with Brandon Graham's retirement and the trade of Bryce Huff, leave a gap that second-year edge rusher Jalyx Hunt is primed to fill. Hunt, who showcased his skills with a half-sack in the Super Bowl, will line up opposite Nolan Smith this season.

At just 24 years old, Hunt's journey is intriguing; he transitioned from safety at Cornell to defensive line at Houston Christian. His adaptability and emerging talent could make him a key player for the Eagles as they navigate a changing roster.
Another name to watch is Azeez Ojulari, formerly of the New York Giants. Selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Ojulari has faced injury challenges but demonstrated potential with eight sacks during his rookie season. After missing the last six games of 2024 due to a toe injury, he aims to capitalize on his opportunities behind Smith and Hunt this year.

Transitioning to the secondary, cornerback Kelee Ringo stands out as a candidate for a breakout season. With veterans Darius Slay and Isaiah Rodgers no longer on the roster, Ringo's competition for the starting spot opposite Quinyon Mitchell is minimal. His impressive physical attributes—standing at 6 feet 2 inches and clocking a 4.36-second 40-yard dash—position him well for success, provided he refines his technique.
Ringo's experience has largely been on special teams, but with increased responsibilities looming, he could emerge as a significant contributor in 2025.

On the offensive side, second-year running back Will Shipley is expected to see more action this season. While Saquon Barkley remains the primary ball-carrier, Shipley is likely to take on a larger role following Kenneth Gainwell's departure to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Shipley, a former five-star recruit from Clemson, showed flashes of potential last year despite primarily playing special teams.
Finally, defensive tackle Moro Ojomo, a seventh-round pick from the 2023 draft, is another player to keep an eye on. With Williams' snaps now available after his exit, Ojomo is set to step up. He played 388 defensive snaps last season and recorded 20 tackles along with five quarterback hits. His performance could be pivotal as the Eagles look to solidify their defensive front.

As training camp unfolds, these players will be under scrutiny as they strive to make their mark on the Eagles' roster and contribute to another successful season.
