Hlongwane Shines with Two Goals as Minnesota Defeats Dynamo
Bongokuhle Hlongwane made headlines Wednesday night, netting two goals within a mere three minutes, propelling Minnesota to a 3-1 victory against the Houston Dynamo.
The first goal came in the 60th minute, a remarkable back-heel flick that caught the defense off guard. Following the strike, Hlongwane dashed into the stands, embracing his mother, who witnessed her sonโs MLS debut in person for the first time.
Just three minutes later, Hlongwane struck again, extending the lead to 2-0. Anthony Markanich delivered a precise header into the box, setting up Hlongwane perfectly for a deft finish.
This performance elevated Hlongwane to second place in Minnesota's all-time scoring list, now boasting 24 regular-season goals, surpassing Emanuel Reynoso's previous record of 22.
In the 70th minute, Minnesota further solidified their dominance. Julian Gressel executed a well-placed pass that sliced through the Houston defense, allowing Robin Lod to find the net at the back post, making it 3-0.

Houston managed to score in stoppage time when Felipe Andrade, who came on as a substitute, capitalized on a deflected ball to bring the final score to 3-1.
This match marked a rematch of earlier encounters this season, where Houston had previously triumphed with a 2-0 win at home.
