I Traveled to Iran for a Nose Job—Then Bombs Became My Alarm Clock
Alma Verseau, a content creator based in Dubai, sought the perfect nose job in Iran, only to find herself amidst chaos.
Her dream rhinoplasty turned into a nightmare when the Twelve-Day War with Israel erupted during her recovery last June, leaving her with few options for safety.
“Rare aesthetic: You got to Iran for a nose job with your best friend and get stuck in war,” she captioned a video showing her bandaged and distressed as explosions echoed around her.

This footage has amassed over 2.2 million views, sparking outrage and disbelief from viewers questioning her decision to undergo surgery in such a volatile region.
“In a world with Turkey, YOU CHOOSE IRAN???” exclaimed one bewildered commenter, highlighting the popularity of cosmetic procedures in Istanbul.
“What possessed you to go to Iran in these times?” another user pondered.

“I’ve never heard anyone say ‘I’m going to Iran for a nose job,’” scoffed yet another critic.
Indeed, Iran may not be the first choice for cosmetic surgery, especially given the current turmoil.
The U.S. initiated Operation Epic Fury against the Iranian regime on February 28, described by War Secretary Pete Hegseth as “precise strikes taking out the better part of Iran’s navy, making it combat ineffective.”

Despite this, Iran is often dubbed the “rhinoplasty capital of the world,” with Tehran recognized for its affordability in cosmetic procedures.
The cost of a nose job in Iran ranges from $1,500 to $3,500, significantly lower than Turkey’s $2,500 to $5,500 and the U.S. average of over $10,000.
Verseau expressed her shock at the unforeseen danger she faced, stating, “This was not predicted. Nothing like this had happened [in Iran] in over 40 years.”

Fortunately, she managed to escape the conflict by relocating to a relative’s home in a nearby village.
“A lot of people are asking why I would get my nose done in Iran instead of a place like Turkey,” she explained, noting that she chose the same Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor as her Iranian friend. “The procedure was really good.”
Verseau isn’t alone; other influencers have also ventured into Iran for cosmetic enhancements despite the risks.

Liya, another lifestyle influencer, documented her own experience with a similar post: “Got a nose job in Iran. Woke up to the sound of bombs for 12 nights.”
