Teacher Arrested for Cocaine Found in 6th Grade Classroom
In a shocking turn of events, Tennessee authorities have reported the arrest of sixth-grade teacher Mia King after the discovery of cocaine in her classroom. The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Department revealed that King faced charges following the uncovering of two baggies of cocaine in her open purse, which was found inside a closet adjacent to her desk.
Moreover, authorities detailed that alongside the illicit substance, a scooping object and a rolled-up $5 bill were also located, both exhibiting traces of white powdery residue, as stated in an affidavit.
During the investigation, deputies noted that King, who had been confined by a school resource officer in the principal’s office, displayed signs of being under the influence of narcotics while her classroom at Cheatham County Middle School was being searched.
Upon being informed of the findings, King reportedly became emotional, breaking into tears and requesting legal representation. Despite having a clean record in her personnel file, the English teacher, who had been a part of the school since 2023, faced termination on Monday in light of the incident.
A spokesperson from the school district emphasized, “The safety and well-being of our students is one of our top priorities, and we are committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all students. We are fully cooperating with the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office in this matter.”
Following the events, King was promptly booked into the Cheatham County Jail, marking a significant downfall in her career and raising concerns about the safety protocols within educational institutions.
