Tragic Loss: Pitt Football Commit Mason Alexander Dies in Car Crash
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Mason Alexander, a committed student-athlete to the University of Pittsburgh's football program, tragically passed away in a car crash in Indiana on Saturday.
Alexander, who played at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Indiana, had recently graduated early and was set to join the Panthers this coming season.
Mike Kelly, the head coach of the Hamilton Southeastern Royals, expressed his sorrow, stating, "Mason was a special young man who touched the lives of everyone he met. His smile, presence, and energy would light up every room he was in."
Pat Narduzzi, head coach of the University of Pittsburgh football team, shared his grief in a statement, revealing he received a call that no parent, teacher, or coach ever wants to receive—the news of a young life cut short.
"Our entire program is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Mason Alexander's passing. Mason had just enrolled at Pitt in January," Narduzzi remarked. "He will always be a Panther to us."
