The Reason Ben Bylett Exited 'Australian Survivor' Revealed
Anyone who has tuned into any version of Survivor knows that a key element of the game is the suspense of voting someone off the island. However, during a recent episode of the Australian version, host Jonathan LaPaglia threw a curveball when he announced that no one would be sent home. The reason? Contestant Ben Bylett had chosen to leave the game voluntarily.

Jonathan's announcement left both the contestants and viewers scratching their heads, as he provided no immediate explanation for Ben's departure. So, what led to Ben's decision to step away from the competition? Here’s the scoop.
The shocking news of Ben's exit was first revealed during Tribal Council. “I know you’ve all come here tonight to send someone home, but we’ve had a development this evening, which means that’s not going to happen. Now, this might come as a bit of a shock, but Ben, from Brains, has decided to leave the game,” Jonathan stated.
He continued, “That means tonight, you will not be voting; no one’s going to be going home from this tribe. Sadly, [Ben] won’t be with us anymore. But, the good news is, you guys get to stay together, and one of you gets a reprieve tonight. Someone gets a second chance, so I suggest, use it wisely.”
At that moment, viewers were left in suspense, wondering if Ben had fallen ill or if something else had transpired. Thankfully, Ben took to Instagram to clarify his situation, detailing the challenges he faced while filming.
“Playing Survivor is bloody tough,” Ben shared. He recounted how he tore his calf muscle during a challenging water competition, where fellow contestant Myles Kuah excelled. Although the injury wasn’t prominently featured in the show’s edits, it significantly impacted Ben’s ability to compete.
His struggles intensified after he relocated to the Brains beach, where he faced harsh conditions, including sleeping in a puddle. This led to him contracting a serious illness. Following an intense hoop challenge, Ben re-injured his calf and began experiencing difficulty breathing. “I couldn’t catch my breath for hours afterward, and I realized something was actually pretty wrong with me,” he explained.
As his symptoms worsened, production stepped in when his heart rate became irregular, ultimately flying him home for medical attention. Upon his return, he was diagnosed with a severe case of pneumonia. Ben also revealed that he lost an astonishing 13 kilograms (28.6 pounds) in just 24 days and had entered the game already battling an illness.
Despite the tough experience, Ben expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete. He hinted at having unfinished business with the game, suggesting that he might be open to returning in the future if given the chance. His journey on 'Australian Survivor' may have ended abruptly, but his spirit remains unbroken, leaving fans eager to see what he might do next.
