Artem Chigvintsev Emerges Victorious in Divorce Battle with Nikki Garcia
Former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant, Artem Chigvintsev, had a successful day in court on October 15. In a lengthy two-hour hearing regarding his divorce proceedings with estranged wife, Nikki Garcia, Artem achieved a favorable outcome in their separation.
Despite Nikki's plea for sole custody of their four-year-old son, Matteo, the Napa County judge ruled in favor of shared custody, aligning with Artem's initial request for joint custody when he filed for divorce back in September.
During the legal proceedings, Nikki also sought supervised visitation rights for Artem and mandated anger management classes for him. However, both of these requests were not granted by the court.
Merely three days after celebrating their second wedding anniversary on August 26, Artem faced legal trouble following an alleged physical altercation. Despite this, the Napa County District Attorney opted not to press charges against the DWTS star, citing ethical reasons for their decision.
According to reports from TMZ, Artem vehemently denied having any anger issues during the recent court session. Consequently, the judge did not mandate anger management classes for him. Nevertheless, both Artem and Nikki are required to engage in individual therapy sessions, and the court ordered them to attend parenting classes to facilitate better co-parenting for Matteo.
Following the incident, Nikki obtained a restraining order against Artem, citing instances of abuse. In response, Artem countered with allegations that Nikki was the primary aggressor in their relationship. His legal team previously stated to TMZ that Artem refutes any claims of physical aggression towards his wife.
The couple's divorce trial is slated for December and is anticipated to span over two days. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding the altercation, it is disheartening to witness the dissolution of Artem and Nikki's once-promising relationship. Their union in Paris seemed to signify a deep love, but Artem has expressed no interest in reconciliation, a sentiment likely reciprocated by Nikki, at least for the time being.
