Kelly Stafford's Parenting Dilemma at NFL Games: Are the Tickets a Waste of Money?

Oct 23 2024

Kelly Stafford, the wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, recently shared a relatable parenting struggle amidst the glamorous backdrop of NFL games. On her podcast "The Morning After" on Tuesday, October 22, Kelly opened up about her daughters' lack of focus during their father's home games.

She humorously revealed, "There's this section in the suite where the food is, and you can sit and have a cocktail or something to eat, and my kids are sitting there coloring. I'm going, 'Hey, there's a reason I bring you to these games. To be honest, this is a wasted ticket. You could do this at home, watch on TV, and color.'

Despite her desire for her daughters to be present to support their dad, Kelly candidly questioned, "Am I wasting money bringing you to these games?" The Staffords, who tied the knot in 2015, are parents to four daughters: 7-year-old twins Sawyer and Chandler, 6-year-old Hunter, and 4-year-old Tyler. The entire squad accompanied Kelly to SoFi Stadium for the Rams' game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, October 20.

Along with coloring books, Kelly mentioned providing tablets to keep her girls entertained. "We bring the coloring and the iPads so that they don't have tantrums and bother other people in the suite because people are there to watch the game," she explained. Despite the challenges, Kelly contemplates a different approach, saying, "Part of me is like, maybe I just don't bring anything and then they learn."

Juggling the attention of four young children at a football game is undoubtedly a tough task, but Kelly remains determined. "I feel like I expect a lot," she admitted. "Listen, your dad is out there. You need to pay attention and ask questions."

Fortunately, Kelly shared that one of her twins, Chandler, shows a keen interest in the sport. "Chandler, one of the twins, she's very, very curious about the sport and is always watching and asking," Kelly proudly revealed.

Aside from her daughters and a group of friends, Kelly's parents also attended the game. Despite the distractions and efforts to keep her girls engaged, Kelly's tactics seemed to have paid off. "I think my parents were wildly impressed with my kids in the suite," she remarked.

As the Rams geared up to face the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, October 24, Kelly's reflections on parenting amidst the excitement of NFL games shed light on the challenges and joys of balancing family life with the demands of professional sports.

While Kelly's dilemma may resonate with many parents navigating similar situations, her commitment to creating memorable experiences for her daughters amidst the thrill of NFL games showcases the dedication and love that underpin the Stafford family dynamics.

As the Stafford family continues to navigate the highs and lows of NFL seasons, Kelly's candid revelations offer a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes reality of juggling parenthood and football fandom in the spotlight.

Despite the occasional distractions and uncertainties, Kelly's unwavering support for her husband and efforts to involve their daughters in his career highlight the importance of family unity and shared experiences in the whirlwind world of professional sports.

As fans eagerly anticipate the next chapter of the Stafford family's NFL journey, Kelly's humorous anecdotes and heartfelt reflections serve as a reminder that, amidst the glitz and glamour of game days, family remains at the heart of it all.
