Florida Therapist Accused of Sexually Abusing Teenage Client
A Florida therapist, Elizabeth Blanchard, is at the center of a disturbing case where she stands accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy she was counseling. The allegations have led to Blanchard facing four counts of sexual battery of a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency, among other charges.
The accusations against Blanchard stem from her time working at EPIC Behavioral Healthcare in St. Augustine, Fla. It is reported that Blanchard initiated one-on-one counseling sessions with the teenage boy after their initial interactions in group therapy.
According to the arrest warrant, authorities claim that Blanchard's behavior escalated from texting and calling the teen to flirting, eventually leading to instances of sexual abuse. Shockingly, the warrant alleges that Blanchard engaged in these criminal acts both in her office and at a hotel in St. John’s County, which she purportedly booked for the sole purpose of engaging in sexual activities with the minor.
Furthermore, the warrant details disturbing allegations that Blanchard provided the teen with vape pens, alcoholic beverages, and even sent him significant sums of money, totaling up to $9,000, through Cash App on multiple occasions.
EPIC Behavioral Healthcare took swift action upon learning of the allegations. News4Jax reported that the organization promptly terminated Blanchard from her position. EPIC CEO Nangela Pulsfus expressed shock and dismay, stating, “We are shocked and dismayed by the actions of our former employee. The behavior in question goes against the values and standards of our company, and we do not tolerate such misconduct in any form.”
As the legal proceedings unfold, it remains unclear whether Blanchard has entered a plea in response to the charges brought against her. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals, especially in therapeutic settings where trust and professionalism are paramount.
