New Mexico Man Wins Record-Breaking $412 Million in Landmark Case
A man in his 70s, whose identity remains undisclosed, has recently made headlines for winning a staggering $412 million in a medical malpractice lawsuit, marking it as the largest payout ever granted by a U.S. jury. The incident revolves around a series of misguided penile injections that led to irreversible damage, following a trial held in Albuquerque in November 2024.
The lawsuit targeted NuMale Medical Center and its executives, accusing them of misdiagnosing the patient and subjecting him to invasive erectile dysfunction treatments that resulted in permanent harm. The victim initially sought help at the clinic in 2017 at the age of 66, complaining of fatigue and weight loss, only to face severe consequences from the unnecessary procedures.
Attorney Lori Bencoe expressed, "It's a national record-setting case and it's righteous because I don't think there's any place for licensed professionals to be defrauding patients for money. That is a very egregious breach of their fiduciary duty." The legal team emphasized the breach of trust that occurred, condemning the exploitation of patients for financial gain.
Another lawyer involved in the case, Nick Rowley, shed light on the manipulative tactics employed by NuMale Medical Center, stating, โThis corporate scheme manipulates and uses fear as a tactic to convince these men to do this." The revelation of such coercive practices raises concerns about ethical standards within the medical industry.
Despite the verdict, NuMale Medical Center has expressed disagreement and plans to explore all legal options, including a potential appeal. President Brad Palubicki affirmed the company's commitment to delivering responsible care and upholding stringent safety protocols across all its clinics.
