Jerry O'Connell Stays Put During Epic 18-Inning World Series Showdown

Oct 28 2025

Jerry O’Connell, a passionate baseball enthusiast, made headlines during the 2025 World Series, refusing to leave his seat at Dodger Stadium despite the game stretching into the early hours.

On October 27, O’Connell, 51, shared his experience at game three of the series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays through social media. Accompanied by friends, including fans of the rival team, he captured the electric atmosphere of the match.

The contest was a nail-biter, with both teams locked in a tie at five runs each after the seventh inning. As the Dodgers prepared for their turn at bat in the bottom of the ninth, O’Connell expressed his optimism. “LOL Bottom of the 9th!” he posted alongside a video of himself singing along to “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes.

However, as the innings dragged on and the score remained unchanged, O’Connell’s enthusiasm began to wane. “This has gotta end at some point,” he remarked in a selfie that revealed his fatigue.

While many spectators chose to exit, O’Connell remained steadfast, cheering for his team. His determination was evident during the 14th inning when he declared, “I’m not f***ing leaving!” while showcasing his view from the stands.

One fan noted the late hour, surprised that O’Connell was still present after 10 p.m. The actor candidly replied, “Bro. I’ve been here since 4 and I have to s***.”

As the game progressed into the 15th inning, O’Connell humorously noted that even the stadium seemed fatigued. “Bottom of 15th, Jumbotron quit,” he quipped, sharing a photo of a malfunctioning display.

With no end in sight during the 16th inning, O’Connell remained committed. A fan joked about him potentially being called to pitch if the game continued. By the 17th inning, he proudly proclaimed that he had outlasted other celebrities in attendance, including Jason Bateman. “Let’s go! I’m gonna outlast Bateman! Let’s go!” he cheered.

Finally, O’Connell’s perseverance paid off when Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 18th inning, securing a 6-5 victory for the Dodgers. “Got the shot. Going home to feed my dogs,” he captioned a video capturing his reaction to the thrilling conclusion.

This marathon game lasted six hours and 39 minutes, tying it for the longest World Series game in history. The previous record was set in 2018 when the Dodgers faced off against the Boston Red Sox in another 18-inning battle that lasted seven hours and 20 minutes, with the Dodgers emerging victorious at 3-2.
