Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers Set to Play in Brazil

Sep 05 2025

The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers are set to clash in São Paulo, Brazil, on September 5, 2025, marking a significant moment for the NFL's international outreach.

Taking place at Arena Corinthians, this matchup is part of the league's 2025 International Games schedule. The Chiefs and Chargers, both members of the AFC West, will bring their rivalry to a new audience, showcasing American football to fans far from home.

The NFL has been actively working to broaden its global footprint, with last year's game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers at the same venue serving as a successful precursor. “After a successful and memorable first game in Brazil in 2024, we are delighted to confirm the league’s return to São Paulo,” said NFL Brazil General Manager Luis Martinez during the announcement. “We will continue to make history together and look forward to delivering an unforgettable experience for passionate fans of the game once again in Brazil.”

São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes highlighted the economic impact of last year’s event, noting it generated over $60 million for the city. He anticipates even greater financial benefits from this year’s game, which is expected to draw nearly 50,000 fans to a sold-out Arena Corinthians.

Chargers President of Business Operations A.G. Spanos emphasized the significance of this event for the team’s brand. “It’s also a tremendous opportunity to help grow the game and bring the Chargers brand to millions of sports fans across Brazil and Latin America,” he stated. “One of the great countries of the world, Brazil is as vibrant, dynamic and culturally diverse as anywhere on the planet.”

The NFL's 2025 schedule includes seven international games, with three set for London. The Minnesota Vikings will face the Cleveland Browns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 5, followed by the Denver Broncos against the New York Jets on October 12. The Los Angeles Rams will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium on October 19.

Additionally, the Vikings will play against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin on September 28. Berlin will host a matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts on November 9, while Madrid will conclude the international slate with a game featuring the Washington Commanders and Miami Dolphins on November 16.

Both teams arrived in Brazil earlier this week, with players expressing enthusiasm about promoting the NFL globally. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce remarked, “We’re trying to take this game worldwide. We’re so fortunate that Brazil’s had the interest of wanting to see more of the NFL.”

Kelce continued, “It’s so fun to see everybody get excited about this game that we’ve loved since we were kids. To be able to go out here, showcase it in a good way and show everybody just how much we really love this game.”

The highly anticipated game will be available exclusively on the NFL’s YouTube Channel and NFL+ starting at 8 p.m. ET on September 5.
