Megyn Kelly Fiercely Criticizes Fox News for Flattering Trump

Jan 06 2026

Former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly criticized her previous employer for its enthusiastic support of President Donald Trump's approach to Venezuela, particularly regarding the ousting of President Nicolás Maduro.

“I turned on Fox News yesterday, and it felt like I was watching Russian propaganda,” Kelly remarked during a recent episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show” on SiriusXM. “There was no skepticism, just pure cheerleading for intervention.”

While expressing her admiration for the military and acknowledging her support for Trump, Kelly emphasized the need for caution. “We should exercise a note of caution before jumping on the rah-rah train,” she stated, reflecting on her experiences as a Fox News anchor.

Kelly articulated her position clearly: “I’m not in the green-light territory. I’m not in the red-light territory either. But I am staying in the yellow-light territory for now.” This metaphorical traffic light approach underscores her hesitance regarding U.S. military involvement.

She also scrutinized the administration's characterization of the actions in Venezuela as a law enforcement operation rather than a military invasion. “I see all of the strategic advantages of what he’s done. Trust me, I do,” she acknowledged, recognizing the geopolitical implications involving Russia, China, and Cuba.

However, she dismissed the narrative surrounding law enforcement as misleading. “That’s actually the most persuasive argument and obviously the real one, and none of this nonsense about law enforcement,” she asserted.

Kelly recounted her past experiences with U.S. interventions, warning against uncritical support. “I’ve seen what happens when you cheerlead U.S. intervention in foreign countries, thinking it’s for our good, only to end up in a quagmire like Iraq or Libya,” she cautioned.

She further elaborated on the complexities of foreign interventions: “We’re not great at going into these countries, decapitating their leadership, and then claiming we can steer them to a better place.”

Following this, Kelly expressed her disapproval of Trump’s suggestion that U.S. military forces could be deployed in Venezuela. “Well, whose boots?” she questioned, highlighting her concern for her children and the children of her listeners who might be affected by such decisions.

“I think I speak for many parents when I say I’m staying in yellow territory until we know more,” she concluded, reinforcing her cautious stance.

In closing, Kelly made it clear that she would not be part of the Fox News cheerleading squad this time around. “I’ve been burned too many times,” she remarked, signaling her resolve to remain critical.

For those interested, Kelly's full commentary begins at the four-minute mark in the episode.
