Nick Foles, the quarterback who brought Philadelphia its first Super Bowl title, will be honored with induction into the University of Arizona Sports Hall of Fame, as announced by the university on Tuesday.
Foles began his collegiate journey at Michigan State but soon transferred to Arizona, where he redshirted in 2008. His time with the Wildcats was marked by record-setting performances that solidified his legacy.
Expressing his gratitude, Foles shared on X, "I'm honored to be a part of the U of A Sports Hall of Fame. BEAR DOWN!"
He holds several records at Arizona, including most career passing yards at 10,011, an average of 286.0 yards per game, 67 touchdowns, and 933 completions.
During his final season, Foles led the Pac-12 with impressive stats: 4,334 passing yards, 361.2 yards per game, and 387 completions. He participated in two bowl games with the Wildcats, both resulting in lossesโthe 2009 Holiday Bowl and the 2010 Alamo Bowl.
Drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Foles' path to Philadelphia was nearly altered; the team initially had its sights set on Russell Wilson, who was selected just before Foles by Seattle.
In 2013, Foles had a standout Pro Bowl season, making history as the first NFL quarterback to throw for seven touchdowns in a single game while achieving a perfect passer rating of 158.3.
After being traded to the Rams in 2015 for Sam Bradford, Foles reunited with Andy Reid at the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016. He returned to the Eagles in 2017 as a backup to Carson Wentz.
When Wentz suffered an ACL injury in Week 14, Foles took over as the starting quarterback and led the Eagles to a historic 41-33 victory against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, marking the franchise's first championship. His role in iconic plays like the "Philly Special," where he caught a touchdown pass, remains etched in Eagles lore.
Last season, Foles signed a one-day contract with the Eagles to retire as a member of the team. The Eagles honored him before their Week 2 Monday Night Football game against the Atlanta Falcons. Just months later, they celebrated their second Super Bowl victory in franchise history.
