Filming for the new Apple TV+ thriller series "Parallax" is set to take place in the Pittsburgh area, and the production team is seeking paid background extras. This series features a star-studded cast, including Liev Schreiber, known for his role in "Ray Donovan," Zazie Beetz from "Deadpool 2," and Stephen Graham, who appeared in "Adolescence."
"Parallax" is based on Lars Kepler's acclaimed "Killer Instinct" book series. The narrative follows Jonah Lynn, portrayed by Schreiber, an ex-soldier who transitions into a homicide detective. Seeking a quieter life away from the chaos of Philadelphia, Jonah relocates to a small town in Western Pennsylvania. However, tranquility is shattered when a cunning serial killer, Jurek Walter (played by Graham), threatens his family and community, forcing Jonah to confront his past and protect those he loves.
Mosser Casting is actively recruiting background actors of all ages to fill various roles during filming, which will occur between July 21 and December 19. The casting call emphasizes the need for individuals with flexible schedules, particularly on weekdays, as many filming locations will be situated outside of Pittsburgh.
Compensation for background extras is set at $235 for a guaranteed 12-hour workday, with most filming days extending between 12 to 14 hours. Overtime pay kicks in after the initial 12 hours, according to Mosser Casting.
Interested individuals can submit their applications online. "Parallax" joins a growing list of productions filming in western Pennsylvania.
In addition to "Parallax," the area is also hosting the Amazon MGM Studios film "How to Rob a Bank," which is currently seeking paid extras. Recently, a biopic about Hershey concluded filming, transforming locations like Bedford Square on the South Side into scenes reminiscent of the 1800s.
The Paramount+ series "Mayor of Kingstown," featuring Jeremy Renner, has filmed multiple seasons in Pittsburgh and surrounding regions, further establishing the area as a vibrant hub for film and television production.
