Phillies Bat Boy Adam Crognale Selected for MLB All-Star Ball Crew
Kyle Schwarber and Zack Wheeler will not be alone at the 2025 MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta on July 15. Adam Crognale, the Phillies' bat boy, has secured a spot on the All-Star Ball Crew after winning a fan vote, as announced by MLB on Wednesday.
Representing the American League will be Frankie Boyd, bat boy for the Detroit Tigers, who also won his respective fan vote.
"Adam is an All-Star," the Phillies declared on their social media platforms, celebrating Crognale's achievement.
In his fifth season with the Phillies, Crognale's selection was bolstered by a highlight reel that showcased his impressive skills. One notable moment included a recent play where he leaped into the dugout to catch a chopper hit by Schwarber.
"Because of a play I made a few weeks ago, Schwarber hit a chopper that was coming toward the dugout," Crognale recounted. "My instant reaction was to jump up and catch the ball, versus it going into the dugout or hitting someone not paying attention, and I mean, I made the play."
MLB introduced ball attendants to the All-Star Game last season, expanding the roles beyond just ball boys and girls to include bat boys and girls, according to Crognale.
"I know I'm living the dream of some 8 or 10-year-old kid in the stands," he expressed. "And even older than that, really. It's a dream come true. I don't take it for granted. I want to make it as easy as possible on the guys because deep down we want them to win and play well and hopefully bring home another championship."
A South Jersey native, Crognale's journey as the Phillies' bat boy is particularly poignant; over a decade ago, he was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-cell lymphoma in his knee. Since then, he has actively worked with various organizations and advocated for patients facing similar challenges.
In 2025, Crognale will join Schwarber and Wheeler as the only representatives from the Phillies selected as All-Stars.
