As the Kansas City Chiefs grapple with playoff aspirations, Randi Mahomes, mother of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, remains steadfast in her support. On November 18, she engaged with a fan's encouraging message on X, affirming her belief in the team.
A fan shared a hopeful sentiment alongside an image of Patrick, stating, “Don’t give up on the Chiefs yet.” Randi replied succinctly, “Me too.” This exchange comes after the Chiefs faced a disappointing 22-19 defeat against the Denver Broncos on November 16, leaving their season record at 5-5.
Currently, Kansas City trails the AFC West-leading Broncos by three games in the loss column and finds itself outside the playoff picture. Since Patrick took over as starting quarterback in 2018, the Chiefs have never missed the postseason. However, ESPN’s prediction model now suggests a 44.6 percent chance that this streak could end.

In a post-game media session on November 17, head coach Andy Reid's comments sparked speculation about his relationship with Patrick. Reid noted, “We’re calling quite a few of the [run-pass options]. Yesterday, they were giving us opportunities to throw the football.” His remarks implied that Patrick's choices during the game may have influenced the team's play-calling dynamics.
Against Denver, Kansas City managed only 14 rushing attempts for 62 yards, while Patrick completed 29 of 45 passes for one touchdown—a record-setting connection with tight end Travis Kelce—and one interception. After the game, Patrick took responsibility for the loss, stating, “I think we’re really talented and we’ve got a lot of great players, but it’s about being more consistent.”
He acknowledged his role in the inconsistency, saying, “There’s times where I’m firing and we’re moving the ball down the field at ease. But there’s times where we go in spurts where I miss a throw or a [pass] protection call.”
Despite the setback against the Broncos, Patrick remains optimistic about their chances of making a fourth consecutive Super Bowl appearance. “The goal is to get into the playoffs and try to make a run at it,” he asserted. He emphasized the need to learn from their recent performance as they prepare for a formidable opponent.
Next up for Kansas City is a matchup against Daniel Jones and the surprising Indianapolis Colts (8-2) on November 23. Patrick concluded with determination, stating, “We’re kind of at that point where we’ve got to find a way to win games.”
