Story's Power and Giolito's Dominance Propel Red Sox Past Twins 8-5
Trevor Story showcased his skills with a homer, a double, and three RBIs, while Lucas Giolito delivered a stellar six-inning performance as the Boston Red Sox triumphed over the Minnesota Twins 8-5 on Tuesday night.
Giolito (7-2) allowed just one run on five hits and two walks, striking out five batters in the process. Jarren Duran also contributed significantly, hitting a home run, a double, and stealing a base for Boston.
On the other side, Brooks Lee made an impact for the Twins, hitting two home runs and driving in all five of Minnesota's runs. Lee stepped in during the third inning to replace Carlos Correa, who exited due to illness.
Lee's two-run homer off former teammate Jorge Alcala narrowed Boston's lead to 8-5 in the bottom of the ninth. After Royce Lewis managed a two-out single, Aroldis Chapman entered the game and struck out Mickey Gasper on three pitches, securing his 19th save.
Twins starter Pierson Ohl (0-1), making his major league debut, initially held the Red Sox scoreless for two innings but faltered in the third, where Boston scored four runs.
Ceddanne Rafaela opened the third with a one-out triple, later scoring on Roman Anthony's single. Alex Bregman added a double, allowing Anthony to score after left fielder Willi Castro struggled to field the ball.
Ohl managed to strike out Duran for the second out but couldn't escape as Story launched a two-run homer, extending Boston's lead to 4-0.

Duran later added a solo shot off reliever Michael Tonkin in the fifth inning.
Ohl was one strike away from exiting the third inning with only a 2-0 deficit when Story fouled off two full-count pitches before connecting on a changeup that sailed into the bullpens in left-center.
Lee's performance marked him as the sixth player in Twins history to hit home runs from both sides of the plate in a single game.
Looking ahead, RHP Brayan Bello (6-5, 3.32 ERA) is set to start for the Red Sox in Wednesday's series finale, while the Twins have yet to announce their starting pitcher.
