Texas Man, 35, Arrested for Allegedly Inflicting Third-Degree Burns on 65-Year-Old Girlfriend Over 'Talking Too Much'

A 35-year-old man from Texas has been arrested for allegedly pouring scalding-hot soup on his 65-year-old girlfriend, resulting in severe third-degree burns. The incident reportedly occurred because he claimed she was "talking too much."

Alexander Alton McDavid, hailing from Waco, is facing multiple charges, including resisting arrest, making terroristic threats against family members, assault with bodily injury, continuous violence against family, and injury to an elderly person—specifically, his girlfriend.

The shocking event took place on February 28, when McDavid allegedly lost control and attacked his girlfriend, who is 30 years older than him, in their apartment. According to an affidavit obtained by KWTX, he struck her with a plate of soup that had just come out of the microwave, inflicting severe burns on her right shoulder and forearm.

Due to a lack of access to a car or cell phone, the victim was unable to seek immediate help. It wasn't until days later, during a visit to a Social Security office, that she encountered police and reported the abuse.

The couple had been living together and in a relationship for about a year before McDavid's violent behavior escalated. The victim revealed that he had previously choked her, but she had never reported those incidents to law enforcement.

McDavid has a history of violence, having been convicted of family violence assault in both 2017 and 2021. He is currently being held in McLennan County Jail with a bond set at $130,000.
