Travis Kelce Reflects on Taylor Swift Ahead of Engagement

Aug 26 2025

Before Travis Kelce slipped a ring onto the finger of pop sensation Taylor Swift, he was simply a football player with aspirations. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, now 35, and Swift, also 35, made headlines on August 26 when they announced their engagement.

In the wake of this exciting news, a clip from the “New Heights” podcast, co-hosted by Travis and his brother Jason Kelce, has resurfaced on social media. The segment features Travis discussing his experience at Swift’s “Eras Tour” in July 2023.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Travis remarked during the episode. “So I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

Jason, 37, quipped, “You made her a bracelet?”

“Yeah,” Travis replied. “If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets and I received a bunch of them being there. But I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it. Alright, nah.”

When Jason pressed him about whether he intended to share his jersey number or his phone number, Travis grinned and said, “You know which one.”

Reflecting on his first encounter with the “Eras Tour,” Travis noted, “She doesn’t meet anybody, or at least she didn’t want to meet me. So, I took it personal.”

The official Instagram account for “New Heights” shared this video clip alongside photos from the couple’s engagement. “How it started ➡️ How it’s going,” they captioned the post. “CONGRATS TO TRAV AND TAYLOR ❤️‍🔥💖.”

Additionally, the podcast account highlighted a comment Travis had left on the video back in July: “Dream big swifties!! 😂😂.”

Just two months after Travis boldly expressed his feelings on his podcast, Swift made her debut at a Chiefs game, marking the beginning of their widely publicized romance.

In a playful nod to the engagement news, ESPN shared a throwback video on Instagram featuring Travis from Chiefs training camp in 2023. During a walk to the field, he was asked by teammates about his childhood celebrity crush.

In the clip, former Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling teased him with, “Taylor Swift?”

Travis responded with a nervous laugh, placing his finger over his top lip and saying, “Alright, nah.”

Swift and Kelce officially announced their engagement via Instagram, sharing a carousel of photos from the proposal. In their joint post, they humorously stated, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 😁.”
